The First Japanese Newspaper “Japanese American Commercial Weekly” established in 1900
Founded in 1900, the Nichibei Shūhō (later renamed Nichibei Jihō; English name: Japanese American Commercial Weekly) was the first long-running Japanese newspaper issued in New York. It continued to publish for more than 40 years until the U.S. government ordered it to cease publication in 1941.
