JAPAN-U.S. CENTENNIAL

May 21st, 1960 – “Keiro-kai, which commemorated the Japan-U.S. Amity Agreement Centennial” was held at the Hotel Edison. The Certificate of Merit and a Gold lacquer wooden cup from the then-Foreign Minister Aiichiro Fujiyama of Japan were presented by Consul General Tanaka to Mr. Kanji Yasui, who represented 81 Japanese pioneers who lived in New York area more than 50 years. Three musicians from Japan entertained the 286 guests: Mr. Toshi Ichiyanagi, Mr. Kenji Kobayashi and Ms. Chieko Sakata.
